UPSC CDS Syllabus - CDS Syllabus topic wise 

English syllabus for CDS Exam:-

CDS English syllabus covers mostly grammatical questions. Questions in English are from

1.     Antonyms and Synonyms
2.   Reading Comprehension 
3.   Jumble sentences and words
4.  Omissions of words, Error Spotting/Sentence Correction
5.  Fill in the Blanks

CDS English question paper designed to test your English skills Apart from above topics it also includes the question from vocabulary part like the use of verbs, tenses, words etc. so one must build the vocab and work on grammar to score good in English part.

General Knowledge Syllabus

General Knowledge section covers the topics to test the general ability and knowledge of candidate about current affairs and happenings.  The paper includes questions on History of India and Geography of a nature. It covers the questions from following topics :

2. Current affairs about politics, sports, marketing, banking, finance etc.
3. Economy of India

5. History and geography of India

Maths syllabus for CDS Exam

For Maths you should have good command on shortcut tricks and techniques. In Maths section examiner confuse you in many ways but be clear you need not to stop on a single question. For this practice is the only key the more you practice the more efficient you will be. Major topics of Maths section for CDS Exam syllabus are given below. 

Arithmetic: This section covers the topics Number System, Fundamental operations likle addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, Square roots, Decimal fractions, Time and distance, Time and work, Percentages, Simple and compound interest, Profit and loss, Ratio and Proportion, Variation, Factorization Theorem, LCM, HCF, Logarithms.

Algebra: Basic Operations, Linear and quadratic equations in detail, Rational expressions and conditional identities, Laws of indices

Trigonometry: This section covers concept of Sine x, cosine x, Tangent x, Values of sin x, cos x and tan x, for x = 0, 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees, Simple trigonometric identities, tables of trigonometry etc.

Geometry: Lines and angles, Plane and plane figures, Theorems of angles, triangle, sides, rectangle, square, circles and diagonals etc.

Mensuration: Areas of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangle and circle. Also covers Surface area and volume of cuboids, lateral surface and volume of right circular cones and cylinders, surface area and volume of spheres.

Statistics: Central tendency, Collection and tabulation of statistical data, Graphical representation of polygons, histograms, bar charts, pie charts, etc. 

SSB round- Intelligence and Personality Test

Once the candidate clear written test he/she is eligible for next round i.e. SSB interview which tests the intelligence and psychology of the candidate. Candidate need to take Group Tests such as group discussions, group planning, outdoor group tasks, and asked to give brief lectures on specified subjects. These tests judge the mental calibre of a candidate.
